The Access Dinghy Association have planned another exciting series of races for 2008 for all you Access Dinghy sailors who like to travel to other clubs.

In the Traveller Trophy (TT) competition five events will count.

The RYA Sailability Championship includes the Rutland Traveller event. The RYA event is to be run over three days at Rutland Water. The Saturday races will be extracted as a mini series, the results of which will be counted as a Traveller Trophy event. Sailors can choose to enter only the Saturday series of races and treat it as just a TT event or the whole three days of races and treat it as a joint TT / RYA Championship event..

Regional Championships to sail for in 2008 are as follows:
The Northern Championship will be run at the Swarkestone TT on Sat June 14th
The Southern Championships will be run at the the Tideway TT on Sat July 26th.

Once again the Carsington TT, in addition to being a TT will race for the "Duke of Devonshire Trophy".

We have included five in week events this year to tie in with some sailing groups that prefer weekday sailing.
We have included five "one day" weekend events (for those who work or prefer not to stay away from home)

u to the final version of the Multi Class Sailing Instructions that will be published on the websites of RYA Sailability and Rutland Sailing Club
Please note - the warning flag for the 2.4mR has been changed to "D".
Pursuit Race instructions include a requirement for each boat to note the numbers of those in front and behind at the finish (the Race Office will record the numbers from them)
The Access PY numbers are different to those on the Notice of Race, as they have been altered for 2008 by the Class Association. The timings given in the Sailing Instructions reflect this.
The Pursuit Race starting instructions only specify flag P to be lowered at each of the 8 starts but there will also be a warning board on the back of the committee boat showing the next class to start. John Fothergill will have a megaphone and will give verbal warnings from the committee boat and we may have a back-up system on the shore to make sure the fleets get away on time.

Access - Ron : Can you circulate the documents to your members

Access Travellers Trophy 2008 Ben Ainslie Team Trophy

The formula for calculating points for the team trophy award is as follows:

In order to make the team's contribution more representative of their overall ability and effort we will be taking into account their average performance by totaling each sailors total points in their best Five races in the series and dividing this by the total number of boats in their class. we will use this figure to calculate the team event results. The team with the lowest total points for their three sailors will win. The formular will be:
The total points for the sailor in their five qualifying races. divided by the total number of boats in their class in the series (up to and including the New Forrest event) multiplied by 10.

The make up of a Team
The team will be a clubs best three sailors/boats in the overall series.
Or
if your club does not have three sailors we are allowing sailors from different clubs to form a team together in order to take part in the Team Trophy until such time as you can gather sufficient numbers in your own club. You can negotiate amongst Yourselves as to how you combine, providing that

1. the combination lasts the whole year, and that

2. you declare the combination before the forth race of this season, and that

3. there be a maximum of two clubs that could combine.

A team therefore is made up of each Clubs or declared teams best three sailors/boats overall series results, calculated according to the Team method laid out above, across the following classes:
Access 2.3. Access 303. Access Liberty.
Tie Break
In the event of two clubs having the same number of points the club with the best fifth members result will win. This will be applied through all the clubs/teams sailors and results until the tie is broken. If after this a tie still exists the club with the most first places will win. This will be applied through all the clubs qualifying sailors and results until the tie is broken. If after all this has been applied a tie still exists the above tie breaking rules will be applied to the results of the Clubs non- team sailors until the tie is broken.

A personal invitation.

We aim to build on the success of the previous eight years of the ‘Traveller series’ with a friendly ‘Apres sail’ atmosphere, where you can meet old friends and make new ones. So do join in! You will be made very welcome.
There will always be someone there to give you a hand if you need one All those who joined us in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 2005 2006 and 2007 will tell you what good fun we had. We look forward to seeing you all there.
