The ACA(UK) Committee has planned another exciting series of TT races for 2012 for Access 2.3, 303 1 person, 303 2 person and Liberty sailors who like to travel to other clubs.

The TT series includes the Northern and Southern Champs mini series i.e. incorporated in the overall series, (see details below)

and the Ben Ainslie Team Trophy i.e. incorporated in the overall series, (see details below).

In the Traveller Trophy (TT) competition five events will count.

The Saturday races will be extracted as a mini series, the results of which will be counted as a Traveller Trophy event. Sailors can choose to enter only the Saturday series of races and treat it as just a TT event or the whole three days of races and treat it as a joint TT / RYA Championship event..

Once again the Carsington TT, in addition to being a TT will race for the "Duke of Devonshire Trophy".

Access Travellers Trophy 2012 Ben Ainslie Team Trophy

The formula for calculating points is currently under review

For information only: in 2011 the team trophy award was as follows:

In order to make the team's contribution more representative of their overall ability and effort we will be taking into account their average performance by totaling each sailors total points in their best Five races in the series and dividing this by the total number of boats in their class. we will use this figure to calculate the team event results. The team with the lowest total points for their three sailors will win. The formular will be:
The total points for the sailor in their five qualifying races. divided by the total number of boats in their class in the series (up to and including the Bristol event) multiplied by 10.

The make up of a Team
The team will be a clubs best three sailors/boats in the overall series.
Or
if your club does not have three sailors
we are allowing sailors from different clubs to form a team together in order to take part in the Team Trophy until such time as you can gather sufficient numbers in your own club. You can negotiate amongst yourselves as to how you combine, providing that

1. the combination lasts the whole year, and that

2. you declare the combination before the forth TT event of the season, and that

3. there be a maximum of two clubs that could combine. and neither of these clubs have more than three sailors in the TT series.

A team therefore is made up of each Clubs or declared teams best three sailors/boats overall series results, calculated according to the Team method laid out above, across the following classes:
Access 2.3.   Access 303 1 Person.   Access 303 2 Person.     Access Liberty.

Tie Break
In the event of two clubs having the same number of points the club with the best forth members result will win. This will be applied through all the clubs/teams sailors and results until the tie is broken. If after this a tie still exists the club with the most first places will win. This will be applied through all the clubs qualifying sailors and results until the tie is broken. If after all this has been applied a tie still exists the above tie breaking rules will be applied to the results of the Clubs non- team sailors until the tie is broken.

A personal invitation.

We aim to build on the success of the previous 12 years of the  "Traveller Trophy" series with a friendly "Apres Sail" atmosphere, where you can meet old friends and make new ones. So do join in! You will be made very welcome.
